Security events at the ASHRAE/AHR Expo 2019

There isn’t a day that goes by where cybersecurity isn’t in the news lately. From data breaches at large consumer-facing companies, DoS (Denial of Service) attacks on websites, political influence hacking, stories of personal credit exploits, as well as debates of future wars fought in cyberspace. The benefits we enjoy from our digital devices come at a cost; the risk that bad actors gain access to our increasing cyber footprint, with all of the perils that are implied. ASHRAE/AHR Expo 2019 is hosting several events related to security. There are also events related to the work that BACnet committee’s IT working group is doing on BACnet/SC:

• IT-WG meetings on Thursday afternoon (January 10), Saturday afternoon (January 12) and Sunday morning (January 13) will be focused on completing the third public review draft of BACnet/SC. There will be also a discussion about a future BACnet/SC plugfest. All the meetings are open.
• The New Deal Cybersecurity Summit will be held on Monday morning (January 14), and it is free for all AHR Expo attendees. Please encourage your product managers and executives to attend. Learn more here.
• ASHRAE Seminar 47, “Securing BACnet Networks: Present and Future,” will include a talk by Bernhard Isler about BACnet/SC. The seminar will be held on Tuesday morning (January 15), and ASHRAE meeting registration is required. 

Also, BACnet International will present and free seminar "Developing a Cyber Security Defense".
