Report Predicts Top Cybersecurity Threats for 2024

Cyber criminals are likely to soon target file transfer services, try to compromise the software supply chain and launch novel phishing strategies, according to a new report from Recorded Future.

That report was released Thursday by Recorded Future, and it analyzes the cybersecurity threat trends of 2023 to predict how they will extend into 2024. Read more

Cybersecurity plans should center on resilience

Organizations must base their cybersecurity strategies on resilience — the ability to weather an attack with minimal damage to data, finances, and reputation.

The more realistic goal is cyber resilience — making sure a business can quickly respond to inevitable attacks by gettшng systems back up and running with minimal disruption. A resilient organization emerges from an attack relatively unscathed, with little to no data loss, impact to its financial health, or damage to its brand reputation. Read more

AI Platforms Name Cybersecurity Threats and Advice for 2024

With $109.5 billion of growth expected between now and 2030, the global AI cybersecurity market is booming – and it's not hard to see why. According to a recent survey of security professionals, three-quarters (75%) have observed an increase in cyberattacks. Of these, the research found that an even greater proportion (an overwhelming 85%) blamed AI.

What is AI's role in cybersecurity, then? Is it enabling our online freedoms and safety or undermining them? It's a question Techopedia wanted to explore. But, unlike speaking to human experts, these inquiries focused instead on a different kind of expertise…that of AI itself. So they asked five popular AI language models – ChatGPT, Claude, Llama, Perplexity, and Bard (now Gemini) – what they considered the internet's top cybersecurity threats.

Plot twist: it was AI! Yes, all five AIs, in differing ways, implicated themselves as a primary culprit in the internet's ongoing battle with malicious hackers, fraudsters, and thieves. Read more

We’re one step closer to a global cybersecurity standard for smart home devices

Announced this week, the CSA’s IoT Device Security Specification is a baseline cybersecurity standard and certification program that aims to provide a single, globally recognized security certification for consumer IoT devices.

Device makers who adhere to the specification and go through the certification process can carry the CSA’s new Product Security Verified (PSV) Mark. If that security camera or smart lightbulb you’re buying carries the mark, you’ll know it has met requirements to help secure it from malicious hacking attempts and other intrusions that could impact your privacy. Read more
