What is new in January, 2025 in Cybersecurity?

Industry leaders explain how AI will change cybersecurity

Over the past year, the security industry has grappled with the widespread adoption of AI as an essential technology for protecting against cyberattacks and, in the hands of criminals, a formidable weapon disrupting traditional approaches to security.

At a recent Innovate 2025 conference, several renowned security and AI leaders were brought together to explain how AI will transform our industry and what we can expect in the months ahead. Knowledge sharing is one of the best exercises we can engage in as a cyber community to collectively fight against the evolving AI threat, and Innovate 2025 had no shortage of valuable and actionable perspectives. Cyber Resilience: Sorry Vendors, It’s About Leadership, Not Tech

When people talk about cybersecurity, they often focus on the latest tools or fancy technologies. But in my experience, leading global teams through tough situations, leadership is the real foundation of cyber resilience.

Cybersecurity isn’t just about technical fixes; it’s about protecting the business. It requires clear thinking, teamwork, and a culture where everyone plays their part. Leaders who get this can move their organisations from reacting to problems to staying ahead of them. Read more

Need to build robust industrial supply chain security while considering emerging technologies

As the industrial sector advances into 2025, industrial supply chain security is increasingly likely to be defined by mandatory SBOMs (Software Bill of Materials), regulatory scrutiny, and the rise of AI (artificial intelligence) and advanced technologies. Cyber adversaries are also expected to be active this year, as they aim to react to new political developments and prove their continued ability to take action. Adoption of emerging technologies such as AI, ML (machine learning) and IoT (Internet of Things) will change the processes by which companies will protect their supply chains and offer real-time monitoring, as well as predictive analytics, with precursors, which will help to uncover vulnerabilities. Cybersecurity Executive Order—Key Implications for the Manufacturing Industry

On January 16, 2025, President Joe Biden issued the “Executive Order on Strengthening and Promoting Innovation in the Nation’s Cybersecurity,” a comprehensive directive designed to address the growing complexity and sophistication of cyber threats targeting the United States. The Executive Order aims to establish a cohesive national strategy for improving cybersecurity across federal agencies, private businesses, and critical infrastructure sectors. The Executive Order governs a wide-array of critical issues, including new cybersecurity standards for federal contractors, enhanced public-private information sharing, the promotion of advanced technologies like quantum-resistant cryptography and artificial intelligence (AI), and the imposition of sanctions on foreign cyber actors. The Executive Order’s initiatives demonstrate a commitment to strengthening the nation’s cybersecurity defenses in a rapidly evolving digital landscape and incorporate approaches generally understood as best practices to enhance cybersecurity. Read more

2025’s Biggest Healthcare Cybersecurity Threats

Cyberattacks targeting healthcare organizations are rising, and the financial and operational toll they take is growing.

A recent report from Proofpoint found 92% of healthcare organizations reported experiencing a cyberattack in 2024, up from 88% in 2023, while the average cost of the most expensive attack was $4.7 million.

While safeguarding sensitive patient data remains a top concern, malicious actors are leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning technologies to make threats more complex. It’s important for leadership to understand why healthcare organizations are targeted, how they are targeted and how they can mitigate cyberthreats in 2025.  Read more
