Cimetrics Inc. announced that the GridWise Architecture Council (GWAC) has honored the company for advancing interoperability between intelligent systems in electric power. Cimetrics, a supplier of systems integration technology to the building automation industry, received the GridWise Applied Award of Recognition and Appreciation on May 24 at the GridWise Expo in Chicago.
According to GWAC Chairman Jack McGowan, the Council recognizes that Cimetrics is involved in transforming the electric power infrastructure into one that is intelligent, transactive, and supports a high degree of interoperability between the multitude of systems that constitute it.
Cimetrics develops tools that allow consumers' resources to respond to electricity market signals and to integrate those responses with other business functions. Headquartered in Boston, Cimetrics has been a pioneer in open system communication for building automation for more than a decade. The company is involved in efforts to establish communication standards targeted at enabling utilities to communicate directly with building systems, allowing them to initiate, monitor and verify Demand Response events.
Cimetrics has developed a cutting-edge remote monitoring service called Infometrics (now Analytika) that allows clients to optimize building system efficiency, conserving energy and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The Infometrics service is currently being used at many institutional and commercial sites including universities, health-care facilities, government buildings and pharmaceutical research laboratories. Infometrics also enables building owners to maximize the benefits of participating in Demand Response programs with a nuanced approach that takes advantage of building control information to design sophisticated strategies which reduce demand without compromising comfort.
Cimetrics CEO, James Lee, thanked the GWAC, saying that, "We are grateful for the GridWise Architectural Council's recognition of our ongoing efforts to promote energy efficiency and interoperability. Cimetrics looks forward to continuing our development of advanced tools and services to enable building owners to reduce energy consumption."
