The Cimetrics B6031, based on the Lantronix XPort, is a physically small BACnet/IP to 4 utility meter interface module that can be built into your product.  It brings data from Modbus RTU and Modbus TCP meters to BACnet/IP networks. Configuration is done over Ethernet through onboard web pages, and can be managed from a remote location. The configuration is simple and the meter interface is up and running in minutes.

The B6031 has over 47 templates of well known BTU, steam or electric meters, from numerous manufacturers, where important registers are pre-mapped to BACnet objects. These permanently available meter templates can be selected during the setup procedure using a drop down menu.

    Flexible connections:

    • Professional BACnet/IP connectivity
    • Interfaces to 4 Steam, BTU, or Electrical meters

    Manageability:

    • Built-in web server with secure login
    • Status page for diagnostics
    • Easy & informative BACnet object names
    • BACnet Device Object standard support

    Agility:

    • Easy mapping of supported meters through a drop-down menu
    • Custom-built meter templates are available
    • Multi-vendor device support

Meter data exposed to the BACnet network includes, but is not limited to:

    • Power
    • Energy
    • Demand

This module is an elongated Ethernet connector which contains a powerful microprocessor with all memory and software required to support connection to a state-of-the-art Building Automation System network. Design your circuit board so this module can fit in and connect to the serial port of your host microprocessor (TTL level RS232).

Most facilities which have a BACnet Building Automation System also have a large number of Modbus meters which need to be attached to the BACnet system. A B6030 can be used to accomplish this goal. A B6031 acts as a Modbus to BACnet interface - taking Modbus register data and exposing it to BACnet. There is no need to spend time picking and choosing registers to expose on each meter; the B6031 already has templates for more than 45 meters -  templates where all important Modbus registers are mapped to BACnet objects. All BACnet objects are meaningfully named and standardized (units, functions) for easier reading and integration into Building Automation System.

Configuration steps include specifying a meter's IP address (if it is TCP/IP meter), meter Modbus ID and template. Configuration can be saved to a text file and then can be reloaded to the device or uploaded to a new device, thus significantly saving time. All the mapping data can be saved to a CSV file and can later be used for analyzing data.
