Why does my ARCnet network crash when I plug in the router?

Answer

If the Arcnet network seems to "crash" when the router is plugged in into the network, this is typically due to the “Timeout” parameter in the configuration having been set wrong. Please note that the default “Timeout” value is 3. Please do not change this until and unless there is a very strong and valid reason. The crash of the network is usually traced down to this parameter. Please change the value back to 3 and the network is most likely to be all right.
