How do I know that the router is functioning properly?

First, log into the router via the web configurator.

To determine that the router is functioning or not functioning, click on the “Router Status” (on the home page)button and under ‘RTALK” if you see “Running Router not found”, this means that either the ARCnet or MS/TP network cable is not attached. Please attach the appropriate cable and recycle the power. If you continue to see the same message, there could be a problem.

Also, under RTALK, the number of packets being sent and received should be incrementing after each communication that takes place between the devices on either side of the router. If there is no incrementation, this is an indication that there is no proper communication.

Also look under “INTERFACES” and for each interface you should see the number of “errors”, “packets dropped” etc. If you see a great number of errors there could be a problem with the driver or the network card on the router. In such situations, please contact Cimetrics Technical Support.
