NOTE: The v2.6 BACnet OPC Server requires manual installation of the BACnet Stack. Please use at least v4.0 BACnet OPC Server (or higher)as this installs the BACstac automatically !.

If you absolutely have to stay with v2.6, here are the manual installation instructions.
Once the OPC Server has been installed successfully and upon attempting to start the server if you see a message, which says “unable to initialize BACnet link layer”, this is an indication that your installation was not complete. There is one step that has not been followed. To solve this problem you will need to install the BACstac protocol. Please follow the following steps for installing the BACstac protocol,
In the Network Control Panel (For Windows 2000, you will first also need to
Double-click "Local Area Connection")
1. "Properties"
2. "Install..."
3. Double-click on "Protocol..."
4. "Have Disk..."
>Go to where the OPC Server has been installed and look for the directory called "BACstac".
5. On a Windows 2000/Windows XP Operating system, you should select "bacstac.inf" file (the default)
6. Click on OK
7. Edit the Port Table as desired and OK
Click ‘Finish’ and start the OPC Server once you have rebooted your machine.
