Unable to see devices on an MS/TP network using the B6000
Answer
A possible reason you are not seeing your MS/TP devices via the Explorer could be that you have not configured the BACstac protocol of the Explorer correctly.
In order to see or communicate with BACnet devices that are on a BACnet/IP network (The B6000 is a BACnet/IP to BACnet/MSTP Router), you will need to have the BACnet Explorer set to use BACnet/IP. Once you have this configuration, the Explorer should be able to see devices on the BACnet/IP network.
Please follow the following steps to change the Explorer to use BACnet/IP
- Access the Local Area Connection Properties and highlight the Cimetrics BACstac Protocol and click on Properties
- Once the Cimetrics BACstac Protocol Properties Window opens up, highlight the Information that you see and click on “Remove”
- Click on “Add” and choose BACnet/IP
- Once the BACnet/IP port properties window opens up, enter the following information
Port ID = 1
Network Number = 1
IP Address = please click on the drop down list and select the IP ADDRESS OF YOUR MACHINE (please do not leave this at "DEFAULT")
UDP Port should be = 47808
Subnet Mask should be valid as per your IP Address
Once you complete the above set up, reboot your machine and start the Explorer.
If you still do not see the devices, you will need to check the IP Address of your machine so that it is in the same IP Subnet as the B6000. Once you have changed the IP address to match that of the B6000's, the communication between the Explorer and the B6000 should be fine.
